Meet Dr. Letitia Lacour

As a pediatric dentist, it’s my goal to make sure every child has a great experience at the dentist. I wake every morning with the intent of making sure each child I see that day, whether for a routine appointment or more complex procedure, feels safe, heard, and treasured.

By tailoring every appointment to the child’s needs, I provide a happy and positive experience as I help guide the child into adulthood with a wonderfully healthy smile!

One of my greatest joys is working with nervous or fearful children and helping them through a procedure safely and comfortably. Taking time to establish trust, using kid-friendly terms and a gentle touch, and answering each and every question, shows the child I care about them and what they have to say. This eases anxiety and helps them relax, which is exactly what I want.

It is important children feel comfortable in the dental environment. This allows them to receive the preventive care and education they need now and feel confident seeing the dentist as adults!

Education and Experience

I grew up in Arabi, in St. Bernard Parish, and graduated from Archbishop Hannan High School. I attended Louisiana State University (LSU) in Baton Rouge, where I completed a Bachelor of Science degree. Remaining with LSU, I next obtained my Doctorate of Dental Surgery (DDS) at the LSU Medical Center in New Orleans.

Following dental school, I was accepted into a two-year post-graduate pediatric dentistry specialty program at the LSU School of Dentistry and Children’s Hospital in New Orleans. This residency provided training in addressing the oral health concerns of a growing mouth, as well as caring for a diverse range of physical, emotional, developmental needs. It included advanced concentrations in special needs patients, pediatric sedation, and children’s hospital dentistry.

I have been in private practice for several years now and have loved every day “at work.” One of my primary interests, beyond providing positive experiences and education, is minimally-invasive care. This approach to procedures keeps young patients from having to go under general anesthesia for dental treatment.

Professional Affiliations and Continuing Education

I am a board-certified member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD) and an active member of the:

  • AAPD-LA Chapter
  • Louisiana Dental Association
  • Northlake Dental Group

These organizations offer numerous opportunities to advanced my knowledge and keep up-to-date on the latest materials, technologies, and practices. In addition to attending the AAPD annual meeting, I attend seminars and lectures and study the latest refereed journals and other publication.

Beyond the Practice

If I’m not caring for growing smiles, I’m probably spending time with my husband Daniel and our children: Lettie, who is four, loves rainbows and unicorns and Matilda, who is a year-and-a-half, is smiley, happy, and a night owl. Prince Harry, our cat, rounds out our household.

I love caring for and being with my children; they are always my priority. I also treasure time with family and friends, reading or listening to a good book, tackling house renovations, and eating yummy foods. I love creating meals for my family, especially when I’m able to take advantage of wonderful local produce and products!
